The Night Beneath the Wings: The Little Guardian in the Library

The university library was always quiet and mysterious at night. Andrew sat at the front desk, checking the evening's borrowing records. The night air poured through the tall windows, and the soft sound of pages turning echoed between the empty bookshelves.
Suddenly, a faint sound of fluttering wings caught Andrew's attention. He walked to the windowsill and was surprised to see an owl perched there, its feathers ruffled and clearly injured.
Just then, a student named Paula entered the library to check out a book. Upon seeing the owl, she gasped. "Oh my God, it's hurt! We need to take it to the vet!"
Andrew frowned. "But... but I still have to man the front desk. The night lending shift is busy."
Paula looked at him firmly. "I can help. You can't just leave it to suffer."

Andrew sighed. "Alright, you win. But you have to promise me—you won't let it fly around and break the windows."
Paula smiled. "Don't worry. I'll be careful. It looks like it needs our little hero."
With Paula's insistence, they carefully took the owl to the vet. A few days later, the owl had recovered and, surprisingly, returned to the library, perching on the windowsill every night as if it had made the place its own. Its large eyes sparkled in the soft glow of the lights, as though it were watching over the entire library.
One day, a student, stressed out and struggling to find resources for a paper, was pacing around the library. Andrew whispered to Paula, "Look, it seems like it wants to help."
The owl suddenly flew down from the windowsill, landed on an old reference book on one of the shelves, and gently nudged it towards the student. The student stood still for a few seconds before smiling and saying, "Thanks, little one! You're more reliable than my professor."
Paula laughed softly. "Looks like even nocturnal animals know how to help with homework."
On another occasion, while Andrew was organizing books late at night, the owl picked up a small note that had been left behind by Paula and carefully placed it on Andrew's desk. Andrew stared at it and pretended to be serious. "Are you telling me you're taking over the library now?"
The owl blinked, as if to say, "I’m just lending a hand."
Paula couldn’t help but laugh. "Andrew, see? It’s more attentive than you are."
Andrew shook his head, his face soft with a smile. "I thought it would cause trouble, but it turns out it’s more reliable than I am."
Over time, Andrew and Paula began to look forward to the arrival of each night. The owl became a regular guest at the library, silently guarding it like a watchful protector, bringing warmth and life to the nighttime space.
"You know," Andrew whispered to Paula one evening, "maybe it knows these books better than we do."
Paula smiled and nodded. "Nocturnal creatures always have their own wisdom. We're just lucky to be its friends."
From that moment on, the library at night was no longer just a place of silence and solitude. It became a haven with a wise owl, two guardians, and a soft, warm glow.
